Fanning Island — properly Tabuaeran — was a British possession leased to a cable relay station operated by the Commercial Pacific Cable Company from 1902, forming a critical node in the first transpacific telegraph route. It has never issued its own coinage. This piece is a modern fantasy item with no historical monetary connection to the island, Kiribati, or any predecessor administration.
