Obverse description Hammered copper flan of irregular round form displaying a prominent Arabic legend in raised relief across the field. The upper portion of the obverse features a distinctive arched cartouche or crown-like device with three lobed projections, rendered in bold strokes characteristic of Bijapur Sultanate coinage. Below the arch, the Arabic inscription bearing the name and title of Sultan Muhammad Adil Shah is struck in a cursive Naskh-derived hand. The surfaces exhibit an olive-brown patina with areas of green cuprite corrosion consistent with age and circulation. The coin shows typical characteristics of hammered provincial Sultanate coinage, with an uneven flan and flat, worn fields.
