Beschrijving voorzijde Central field dominated by a large eight-pointed star (khatim Sulayman) formed by two interlaced squares in raised relief, set within a plain raised border. A small raised boss or pellet occupies the geometric centre of the star. The interstices of the star create alternating triangular and quadrilateral compartments typical of Moroccan Alaoui hammered coinage. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, consistent with hand-hammered bronze production.

Aanvullende informatie

Moulay 'Abd al-Rahman's reign saw Morocco under sustained pressure from both Ottoman expansion in the east and French military aggression following the 1830 invasion of Algeria. The falus denominations struck at Rabat al-Fath during this period served an economy increasingly strained by the 1844 defeat at Isly, after which the sultan was compelled to stop supporting Algerian resistance leader Abd al-Qadir — a humiliation that destabilized internal commerce and tribute flows across the northern provinces.

The .5 variant designation under KM#122a reflects documented die weight and module differences among Rabat strikes, consistent with the loose tolerances typical of Moroccan bronze production under 'Abd al-Rahman.
