Additional information

Fat'h Ali Shah's provincial copper coinage is among the least systematically studied of the Qajar series. The Kirmanshah mint, operating in the western Kermanshah region near the Ottoman frontier, struck falus irregularly — output fluctuating with local demand and the chronic shortage of small-denomination metal that plagued Qajar markets throughout the 1820s and 1830s. These pieces circulated hard in bazaar trade and rarely survived intact.
