Falus - Anonymous Hammered coinage Iravan

Iravan — modern Yerevan — was an ancient Persian administrative center that passed to Russian imperial control in 1828 following the Treaty of Turkmenchay, which ended the Russo-Persian War. This falus was struck just three years into that transition, during a period when local hammered copper coinage continued under Russian-controlled administration before standardized imperial currency fully displaced regional types. The city's mint had operated under successive Safavid, Afsharid, and Qajar governors; Russian authorities allowed it to run briefly on before closing it down as monetary integration proceeded.
