Obverse description Octagonal flan struck in copper by the hammered technique. The obverse bears a three-line Arabic legend contained within a double linear border running along the inner edges of the octagonal flan. The legend reads 'ضرب بمدينة فاس' (Struck in the city of Fas/Fez), rendered in Maghribi script typical of Wattasid-era coinage. The field shows natural wear and green patination consistent with the copper composition and age of the issue.
