| Obverse description | Hammered copper flan bearing the Islamic Shahada inscription disposed across the field in multiple lines of Arabic script. The legend reads in the upper field and central register, with the first line of the profession of faith above and the second line below, separated by a horizontal rule typical of Mongol-period Islamic coinage. The flan is irregular and shows characteristic fissures at the edges consistent with hand-striking. The script style reflects the angular Kufic tradition adapted for Mongol administrative coinage of the mid-thirteenth century. |
