| Obverse description | Aniconic field bearing the Shahada in three lines of bold Kufic Arabic script, reading 'la ilaha illa Allah' (There is no god but Allah). The inscription is the sole decorative and textual element, rendered in raised relief against a plain, unadorned field. The flan is irregular and slightly ragged at the rim, characteristic of early Umayyad hammered copper coinage. No border or decorative elements frame the legend. The script exhibits the angular, early Kufic style typical of Syrian mint production under the Umayyad reform coinage. |
