| Reverse description | Central field bearing a multi-line Kufic Arabic legend arranged in horizontal registers, recording the name of the issuing official and his administrative relationship to the Abbasid household. A circular marginal legend runs between the inner field and the outer dotted border, completing the administrative and religious text. The coin exhibits the characteristic irregular flan and variable die alignment of hammered Abbasid provincial copper issues. The Kufic lettering is boldly cut and displays the angular, unpointed style standard to mid-eighth-century fals coinage. |
