Obverse description Central field bearing a multi-line Arabic religious inscription arranged in horizontal registers within a circular border. The legend is enclosed by a beaded or dotted inner circle, with a marginal Arabic inscription running around the periphery of the flan. The die work is characteristic of early Abbasid-period provincial copper coinage, with somewhat rough, hand-hammered execution typical of eastern Islamic mints.
