| Obverse lettering | لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له أبو عبد الله [Marginal legend with date, mint, and Tahir] |
| Reverse description | Central field bears a multi-line Kufic inscription arranged in three to four horizontal lines within a raised inner circle bordered by a prominent beaded ring. The legend references Allah, the Prophet Muhammad as Messenger of God, and the Abbasid caliph's epithet al-Mutawakkil ala Allah. An outer marginal legend running between the beaded border and the coin's rim carries the Qur'anic citation from Sura 9:33 (al-Tawba), a standard formula on Abbasid and Tahirid copper issues of this period. The flan is similarly irregular with a corresponding chip, and the reverse surfaces display a warm bronze-brown tone with localized green patination. |
