| Obverse description | Irregular hammered copper flan bearing a multi-line Arabic legend in the field, reading 'Sulayman bin al-Husain, may he be happy.' The inscription is arranged in three lines across the coin's center, executed in a roughly cast kufic-influenced script typical of East African Islamic coinage of the 14th century. The surfaces show characteristic casting porosity and green patination consistent with prolonged burial. The rim is uneven and undecorated, reflecting the crude hammered manufacture standard for Kilwa Sultanate copper fals. |
