Obverse description Central field bearing a multi-line Arabic legend in naskh script, reading 'Struck in the well-protected port,' arranged within a lobed or cartouche-like border. The inscription is crudely executed in the hammered style typical of provincial Ottoman copper coinage. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, with weak areas of strike visible toward the periphery. No pictorial or figural devices are present; the design is entirely epigraphic.

Reverse description Central field bearing a multi-line Arabic legend in naskh script, reading 'of Mukha, year 975,' identifying the mint city of Mukha (Mocha) and the AH date of issue. The inscription is arranged in two or three horizontal lines within the plain field. The flan is irregular with the typical broad, flat fabric of provincial Ottoman hammered copper coinage. Strike is weak in places, consistent with the artisanal mint production of Yemen Eyalet in this period.
