| 正面描述 | Central cartouche enclosed within two concentric circles bearing the multi-line Arabic honorific and regnal inscription of the sultan. The inner circle frames the main titulature, while the surrounding annular band contains the continuation of the legend. The inscription reads in full the titles and name of Sultan al-Malik al-Salih Salah ad-Din Haji II. The text is rendered in a conventional Mamluk Naskh-influenced hand typical of late 14th-century Damascene mint production. The field outside the outer circle is plain. |

Hajji II's reign lasted barely a year across two separate attempts — he was first deposed in 1381 by Barquq, the Circassian commander who effectively ended the Bahri Mamluk line, then briefly restored before being removed again permanently in 1382. This Damascus fals falls somewhere in that turbulent interval, struck under a sultan who held power more in name than in fact. The Damascus mint continued producing copper for local market use regardless of who nominally held the sultanate.
