Obverse description Central field contains a circular raised boss or pellet, surrounded by a band of Arabic kufic inscription arranged in a circular legend reading the Shahada and the name of the ruler Nasr b. Ali. The legends are executed in angular kufic script typical of early eleventh-century Central Asian coinage. A plain inner border separates the central motif from the circumferential inscription, with the overall design characteristic of Qarakhanid hammered copper fals of the Transoxiana region.
