| Reverse description | Central field bearing a multi-line Arabic inscription in Naskh script arranged across three registers, citing the Abbasid Caliph al-Mustansir billah as suzerain overlord, a standard formula of legitimation on Seljuk of Rum coinage of this period. The letters are boldly modelled in high relief, with individual strokes showing the characteristic plasticity of hand-engraved Anatolian dies. The irregular flan edge and slightly off-centre strike are typical of the hammered fabric used for Rum Sultanate copper issues. |
