Additional information

Kaykhusraw I issued this copper fals during his first reign, before his expulsion from Konya by his brother Suleiman II in 1196 forced a years-long exile spent largely at the Byzantine court in Constantinople. His eventual restoration in 1205 — aided in part by Byzantine support — makes the coins of this first reign politically distinct from his later issues, struck by a ruler who had navigated exile and returned.
