参考资料 Album #1230
正面描述 Central field depicts a frontal standing figure of the sultan in a hieratic, stylized posture, rendered in the Anatolian Seljuk artistic tradition. The figure appears robed, with arms akimbo or extended, flanked by two small six-pointed stars positioned in the upper left and upper right fields. The design is crudely struck on an irregular flan typical of hammered copper coinage of the period, with the portrait filling most of the available field.

背面描述 The reverse features a multi-line Arabic kufic-style inscription occupying the central field, arranged in two or three horizontal lines within a dotted or beaded border. The text contains the Islamic profession of faith (shahada) and the name of the Abbasid caliph al-Musta'sim Billah, affirming nominal suzerainty. The strike is characteristically off-center on an irregular copper flan, with areas of flat strike along the edges consistent with the hammered technique of Seljuk copper coinage.

附加信息

Kayka'us II ruled the Sultanate of Rûm under increasingly impossible conditions — pressed between Mongol overlordship following the Köse Dağ disaster of 1243 and internal dynastic rivalry with his brother Qilij Arslan IV. This first type fals predates his eventual expulsion from Anatolia entirely; by the 1260s he had fled to the Byzantine court of Michael VIII, where he died in captivity around 1279. The Mongol Il-Khanate effectively dictated Rûm's political existence throughout this coinage's production window.
