| Obverse description | Central field occupied by a multi-line Arabic inscription arranged in horizontal registers within a plain border, naming the sultan Kayka'us I with his titles and honorifics. The legend is executed in angular Kufic script with some Naskhi influence, typical of Seljuk of Rum copper coinage. A dotted or beaded inner border frames the inscription, with the irregular flan edge showing characteristic hammer-struck irregularities. The overall design is purely epigraphic, with no figural elements, consistent with the aniconic tradition of Islamic coinage of this period. |
