Additional information

Kayka'us I consolidated Seljuk power in Anatolia through a combination of military campaigning and calculated diplomacy — he forced the submission of the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia, extracted tribute from the Crusader states, and took the Byzantine port of Sinope in 1214, giving the Sultanate its first direct access to Black Sea trade. Copper fals of this reign were local fiduciary coinage, circulating at the market level where silver dirhams were too valuable for small transactions.

The Zeno reference places this among a documented die group, though Rum Seljuk copper attribution remains genuinely difficult without die-linking.
