| Obverse description | Irregularly shaped, crudely struck copper flan displaying a three-line Arabic legend in the field. The inscription, reading 'هولاكو / كيكاوس / السلطان', names the Ilkhanid ruler Hulagu alongside the Seljuk sultan Kaykaus II in a joint citation, reflecting the political relationship between the two powers during the mid-13th century. The lettering is rendered in a bold, somewhat archaic naskh style typical of early Ilkhanid copper coinage. The field is flat and unadorned, with no border or decorative framing elements visible. The strike is characteristic of hammered provincial issues, with some weakness at the margins. |
