Reverse description Central field bears a multi-line Kufic Arabic inscription arranged in three or four registers, typical of Abbasid fals coinage, likely containing the second part of the shahada 'Muhammadun rasul Allah' (Muhammad is the messenger of God) along with possible mint or administrative references. The script is angular Kufic, deeply struck into the copper flan, with a surrounding marginal legend partially legible. The flan is irregular and somewhat uneven, consistent with hammered provincial copper coinage of the Abbasid period struck at Shiraz.
