Obverse description Central field bearing a multi-line Arabic religious inscription in Kufic script, arranged in two or three lines across the flan. The lettering is boldly struck in raised relief, characteristic of the anonymous Abbasid fals coinage. The field is otherwise plain, with no decorative borders or symbols. The irregular flan edges and uneven strike are consistent with hammered copper production of the Dimashq (Damascus) mint during the Abbasid period.
