The irregular flan shows the typical characteristics of hand-struck provincial copper coinage, with uneven edges and surface oxidation. Barda'a, situated in Arran (modern Azerbaijan), functioned as one of the major administrative centers of the Caucasus under Abbasid provincial governance, and its mint produced copper fals for purely local transactional needs — the silver dirham network simply didn't reach down to everyday market exchange. Anonymous copper of this type carries no caliph's name, which places attribution almost entirely on mint name and typology. The Zeno reference here is the practical anchor.
