| Obverse description | Struck on an irregular flan, the obverse displays a mint formula in Persian script arranged in three horizontal lines across the field, reading 'zarb / baldat / Balkh' ('struck in the city of Balkh'). The lettering is rendered in a bold, somewhat cursive Naskh style typical of Timurid provincial copper coinage. The flan edges are ragged and uneven, characteristic of hand-struck hammered issues. No decorative border is present, and the field surrounding the legend shows a rough, granular surface. |
