Obverse description Aniconic field bearing the Shahada in three lines of Kufic Arabic script, reading 'لا إله إلا الله' (There is no god but Allah). The inscription is boldly struck but shows characteristic irregularity of early Umayyad hammered copper coinage. The flan is roughly circular with an uneven, granular surface consistent with cast copper fabric typical of provincial Syrian mint production. No border or marginal legend is present, the inscription occupying the full field.
