| Reverse description | Aniconic field inscribed in three lines of Kufic Arabic script reading 'محمد رسول الله' (Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah), the second part of the Islamic declaration of faith. The script is deeply incused with characteristically angular early Kufic letterforms. The flan is irregularly shaped with a pitted, heavily patinated surface, consistent with provincial copper fals struck at the Ba'albak mint during the Umayyad period. No border, symbols, or marginal devices accompany the central inscription. |
