| Obverse description | Epigraphic field bearing the Islamic shahada in Kufic Arabic script, arranged across multiple lines within a plain circular border. The legend reads the first part of the profession of faith: 'There is no God but Allah alone.' The die-struck lettering is characteristic of early Umayyad aniconic coinage reform, with angular Kufic strokes typical of late 7th to mid-8th century minting practice. The flan is irregular and the surfaces show heavy patination with reddish copper exposed through dark oxidation. |
