Reverse description Central field displaying a six-petalled rosette motif enclosed within a circular border, a decorative device commonly employed on Mamluk fulus of this period. Below or surrounding the rosette, the mint name inscription appears in Arabic, denoting Iskandariya (Alexandria) as the place of striking. The overall design is simple and utilitarian, typical of Mamluk base-metal coinage, with a heavily textured, irregular flan resulting from the hammered production technique.
