| Mintage | ND (1390-1399) - Second reign |
| Additional information |
Barquq's second reign began in 1390 after he retook Cairo from the amir Yalbugha al-Nasiri, who had deposed him in 1389 — making him the only Mamluk sultan to recover the throne after forcible removal. The Sikandariyya mint, operating in Alexandria, was one of the more active provincial copper-striking facilities under his administration, supplying fals for local market transactions at a time when the Mamluk monetary system increasingly relied on copper for everyday exchange as silver grew scarce in Egyptian markets.
Album 981E distinguishes this issue from related Barquq types by specific die characteristics tied to his second reign. Bal II 587b remains the primary reference for attribution.
