| Obverse description | Central field occupied by a multi-line Arabic inscription in Naskh script, arranged in three or four horizontal registers and contained within a plain inner border. The legends record the titles and name of the Artuqid ruler al-Muzaffar Ghazi, rendered in bold relief characteristic of hammered Artuqid copper coinage. A dotted border or pellet ring encircles the inner field, and the flan is irregular, as is typical of hand-struck medieval Islamic copper issues. The surface retains a dark olive-green patina with areas of cuprite and verdigris encrustation consistent with prolonged burial. |
