Obverse description Central field bearing a multi-line Kufic Arabic religious inscription contained within a raised inner circle. The shahada formula 'la ilaha illa Allah' is rendered in early angular Kufic script, characteristic of Abbasid provincial copper coinage of the early 4th century AH. The coin is surrounded by a beaded or rope-pattern border following the irregular flan edge, typical of cast copper fals production. The surface shows heavy patination consistent with the base copper alloy and the age of the piece.
