Obverse description Irregular hammered copper flan bearing a multi-line Arabic inscription in Mamluk Naskh script, arranged in horizontal registers across the field. The legend references the sultan al-Manṣūr ʿAlī II, with the uppermost line featuring a decorative foliate or knotwork finial. The script is boldly struck in relief against a flat, unadorned field, with patchy green cuprite patination evident at the margins. Die alignment is characteristic of Mamluk fals coinage, with the legend filling nearly the entire flan.
