Obverse description Central field occupied by a multi-line Arabic religious legend arranged in three or four horizontal lines within a plain inner circle. The Shahada or a related pious formula is inscribed in angular Kufic script, with clearly defined letterforms typical of early eleventh-century Central Asian fals coinage. A circular border encloses the central inscription, with additional marginal text running along the inner edge of the coin. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven in thickness, consistent with hand-struck copper coinage of the Qarakhanid period.
