Obverse description Central field bears the sultan's name and honorific in four lines of Arabic script enclosed within a linear circle. The uppermost line reads 'al-Hasan', followed by 'bin Sulayman' across the subsequent lines, with the pious epithet 'azza nasruh' (May his victory be glorious) occupying the fourth line. The coin is crudely struck on an irregular flan, characteristic of hammered Kilwa copper coinage, with the legend showing varying depth of strike across the surface. No additional decorative elements or border devices are present beyond the enclosing circle.
