Obverse description The obverse is divided into three horizontal registers by two parallel lines running across the field. The uppermost register bears the mint name, the central register is filled with a row of dots, and the lower register carries the sultan's name and titles in Arabic script. The legend reads 'Tarabulus / al-Malik al-Ashraf Sha'ban bin Hasan / Duriba,' identifying the issuer as Sultan al-Ashraf Sha'ban II and the mint as Tripoli. A small gnat or insect ornament is present within the design, a decorative element occasionally found on Mamluk fulus of this period.

Obverse lettering طرابلس _________ الملك الاشرف شعبان بن حسن _________ ضرب
(Translation: Tarabulus Al-Malik al-Ashraf Sha`ban bin Hasan Duriba: `The ruler al-Ashraf Sha`ban [II], son of [An-Nasir al-] Hasan. Struck in Tripoli `.)
Reverse description The reverse features a wheel or rosette design composed of eight curved spokes radiating from a central hub, arranged in a counter-clockwise direction, creating a swirling or pinwheel effect characteristic of Mamluk fulus coinage. Four globules are symmetrically placed in the spaces between the spokes, filling the field. The overall design is executed in a bold, stylized manner typical of hammered copper issues from the Mamluk Sultanate. The irregular flan results in slight variation in the completeness of the design near the coin's edges.
