Reverse description The reverse presents a heavily worn field with Arabic inscriptions distributed across the surface, typical of late Mamluk fals coinage from the Tripoli (Trablus) mint. A partially visible geometric interlace or knot motif occupies the lower central field, a decorative device occasionally employed on Mamluk provincial copper issues. The lettering, rendered in a somewhat rough hand consistent with provincial die-cutting, identifies the mint and date of issue. Encrustation and flan irregularity obscure full legibility of the marginal legend.
