Reverse description Central field bears a three-line Arabic legend reading the Islamic shahada 'La ilaha illa Allah / Muhammad rasul Allah', followed below by the mint name 'Duriba Mardin' (struck at Mardin), identifying the place of issue. A partial dotted border encircles the field, though portions are lost to the irregular flan edge. The engraving is characteristic of the crude hammered style employed at the Artuqid mint of Mardin during the mid-8th century AH.
