Obverse description Concave-sided hexalobe frame enclosing a multi-line Arabic inscription in Kufic or Naskh script occupying the central field, bearing the name and titles of Al-Adil Sayf al-Din Abu Bakr I as Lord of Harran. The legend is arranged in horizontal lines within the lobed border, with decorative elements filling the interstices. The flan is irregular and the strike somewhat weak at the periphery, consistent with hammered copper coinage of the Ayyubid period. The concave indentations of the hexalobe frame are clearly defined around the circumference.
