Abu'l-Hasan 'Ali — known to the Spanish as Muley Hacén — ruled during the period when the Nasrid emirate was fracturing under both internal dynastic rivalry and mounting Castilian military pressure. His reign saw open civil war with his own son Muhammad XII (Boabdil), splitting the emirate's administration and, presumably, its minting activity. Copper fals coinage from this period was struck for local petty transactions, and the political instability makes attributing pieces to specific phases of his rule genuinely difficult.
He died in exile in 1485, never witnessing Granada's final surrender in 1492.
