The "Etat de Ohio" notes were produced by American Awareness Corporation as educational novelty items, not legal tender. AAC issued a long series of these state-themed fantasy pieces throughout the early 2000s, each carrying the name of a U.S. state in French — a design affectation with no historical basis in American monetary practice.
