Obverse description Armored and draped bust of King Carlos III facing right, depicted in a formal royal portrait style with powdered wig and lace cravat. The effigy is rendered in high relief with fine detail in the hair, armor, and drapery. The date 1787 appears in the lower exergue flanked by small ornamental stars. The circular legend reads CAROL·III·D·G·HISPAN·ET IND·R·, identifying the monarch as King of Spain and the Indies by the grace of God.
