She is flanked by heraldic shields including the Imperial German eagle, with Strasbourg Cathedral visible in the lower center field. Date tablets reading '24-27 SEPT. 1876' and '1-9 MAI 1877' appear at lower left and right respectively. The engraver's signature K. SCHWENZER is inscribed on the right pillar. The circular legend around the border reads ZUR ERINNERUNG AN DEN EINZUG KAISER WILHELM I. IN STRASSBURG AM 1. MAI 1877, with DAS WALTE GOTT in the lower exergue. |
