| Obverse description | Crowned frontal effigy of King Enrique IV enthroned in majesty, robed in royal garments and holding a sword in his right hand and an orb or sceptre in his left, the whole set within an inner beaded circle. To either side of the enthroned figure, small shields bearing the arms of Castile and León are visible in the field. The king wears an ornate crown and the rendering is in the bold, high-relief style characteristic of mid-fifteenth-century Castilian hammered gold coinage. The circumferential Latin legend runs between the inner and outer beaded borders. |
