| Obverse description | Christ Pantokrator depicted nimbate and enthroned facing, robed in imperial Byzantine vestments, holding the Gospels in His left hand and raising His right hand in benediction. The cruciform nimbus is rendered with fine detail, and the throne is visible at the base of the figure. The christogram monogram IC - XC flanks the figure in the field, with the additional letters IC - AK distributed around the periphery within a dotted border, all rendered in Greek characters typical of Thessalonian scyphate coinage. |
