背面描述 Central quartered shield bearing the arms of France (three fleurs-de-lis) and Navarre (gyronny of chains), surmounted by a large royal crown of France rendered in fine detail. The escutcheon is set within a plain field, with the mint date flanking the crowned shield at the left. The circular Latin legend SIT.NOMEN.DOMINI.BENEDICTVM is distributed around the periphery with decorative stops, and a small mint mark appears at the base of the design.

附加信息

Louis XIV was nine years old when this ecu type began production in 1652 — the Fronde was still convulsing the kingdom, and the young king had already been smuggled out of Paris in the night to escape mob violence. Royal minting authority during these years was exercised largely through the regency of Anne of Austria and Mazarin's administration, making the coin's royal attribution somewhat nominal at its earliest dates.

The "long wick" designation refers to the elongated flame element of the cross reverse — a die characteristic distinguishing this variety from the contemporaneous short-wick type, both catalogued under Dy 1473.
