Reverse description Saint Maximilian, the patron saint of Cambrai, depicted full-length and facing front, crowned and enrobed in a large ceremonial mantle. In his right hand he holds a lance bearing an ensign or pennant, and in his left hand he carries an imperial orb, symbolising ecclesiastical and temporal authority. The saint stands in a dignified, frontal pose characteristic of late medieval and early Renaissance ecclesiastical coinage. The surrounding field carries a concise Latin dedicatory legend identifying the saint.
