| Obverse description | Central cross fleurdelisée with fleurs-de-lis at each arm termination, surmounted by a small crown at the top arm, occupying the majority of the field. The cross is rendered in relief against a flat field typical of hammered coinage. A circular legend in Latin runs along the full periphery, reading LOVIS. XIII. D: G. FRANC. ET. NAVAR. REX., identifying the monarch as Louis XIII, by the grace of God King of France and Navarre. The legends are separated by pellets and set within a beaded or toothed border. |
