The second and third quarters of the cross are flanked by a decorative wreath or laurel branch ornament. A crown appears at the beginning of the legend, followed by the mint mark and master die mark. The peripheral legend reads XPS VINCIT XPS RENAT XPS IMPERAT (Christ conquers, Christ reigns, Christ commands), punctuated by pairs of superimposed annulets.
