| Obverse description | Central field displays the crowned coat of arms of France — a shield semé of fleurs-de-lis — surmounted by an ornate royal crown and flanked on each side by a crowned fleur-de-lis. The shield is set within a beaded inner circle, with the circumferential Latin legend running between the inner and outer beaded borders. The heraldic devices are rendered in fine relief characteristic of late medieval French hammered coinage. |
